1970 454 LS5 Rebuilt

I have a rebuilt 1970 date coded 454 (512 casting) motor for sale. Built to above LS6 horsepower.

Engine block casting is 3968512 with High Performance (HI PERF) casting on the back by the flywheel, behind the timing chain cover and by the oil filter. The date code is B20 70 (February 20, 1970).

The motor has the best of everything (too much to list here) and is dressed mostly stock.

It comes with everything, distributor, mechanical fuel pump, Holley carb, 8mm wires, pulleys, alt bracket, dampener, just add your alternator and power steering brackets and smoke the tires off the rims.

She runs on pump gas (I always add octane booster).

If you have or are building a 1970 Chevelle, Corvette or COPO Camaro and you want a date coded and correct motor don't pass this up.

Even has the date code correct aluminum Chevy winters intake (available only in 1970-71 on LS5 and LS6 engines).

Cylinder heads, the casting are:

Drivers side # 6272990 has HI PERF and 132 and CFD cast in head.

Passenger side # 6272990 has HI PERF and 101 and CFD cast in head.

Intake has # 3963569 cast in it.

Big Block Chevy Cylinder HeadsOpen vs. Closed Chamber - A good way to describe big-block heads is to categorize them as open or closed chamber. Closed-chamber cylinder heads have small combustion chamber volumes for high compression ratios, with even mildly domed pistons. Open-chamber designs are larger and provide lower compression ratios, so require a much larger piston dome to achieve the same compression as a closed-chamber head.

Use of either style head requires that the correct pistons are used, otherwise...
