78 Rear Differential Housing

by Terry Orgeron
(Lafayette, Louisiana, USA)

I have replaced all of the components in the drive line in my 1978 Corvette with the exception of my rear differential. I want to replace the entire unit including the differential housing. My question is this, in order to remove the rear end housing on a 1978 Corvette do I need to remove the body from the chassis in order to get to the top 4 housing bolt heads and remove them?

Body removal not required.

I discovered that the four mounting bolts in question are removed after the cross member is removed from under the car.
