Variable-displacement LT1 oil pump that enables more efficient oil delivery, per the engine’s operating conditions. Its dual-pressure control enables operation at a very efficient oil pressure at lower rpm coordinated with AFM and delivers higher pressure at higher engine speeds to provide a more robust lube system for aggressive engine operation.

An available dry-sump oiling system promotes exceptional lubrication system performance during aggressive driving maneuvers and high cornering loads. It includes two stages: a pressure stage and a scavenge stage. The pressure stage includes the new, dual-pressure-control and variable-displacement vane pump.

As you can see if you look close to the different pumps the picture on the bottom has an added Gerotor pump set. This style is identical to the LS series found in the C5 and C6 Corvettes. This pump acts as the scavenge pump to remove oil that returns to the bottom of the engine. This pump then sends the oil to the oil tank where it can be cooled. To complete the circuit the oil is returned to the inlet side of the pressure pump to be used for lubrication.

It is driven by a new, variable-displacement oil pump that enables more efficient oil delivery, per the engine’s operating conditions.
