Headlights only move about two inches

I just had headlight motors re-built and I installed the motors back into the headlight units. Then I installed the headlight units back into my C4. I made sure that it was spaced correctly but when I turn the headlight switch on the headlight cover only lifts about two inches and stops. What have I done wrong? Thanks, Frank

As it turns out the small post that sticks out of the actuator (Block of steel that motor shaft goes through)was on the wrong side of the stop which is the flat piece that fits first onto the motor shaft and has 3 shims. I had to remove the spring or split pin from the actuator block & pry it out just enough to clear the stop and rotate the manual knob until the small post was on the front side of the stop. The lights are working great now. Frank

I have a 88 and it did that once. When I looked closer I found a screw on the side of the headlight lid had backed out and was preventing the actuation to complete its mechanical rotation.
