Heat is coming into the cockpit. The heater and air cont.dials do nothing when they are turned.I bought the corvette and the air cond. system is disconnected, just the hoses are there. Is this a job I could do in the garage or do I need to take the car to a shop.I have tools but little car knowledge.

First, if the a/c is disconnected as you say, are the vacuum lines still hooked up?, remove the passenger side dash panel, slide the temp gauge from hot to cold on the dash and look on the top of the heater box, and see if the actuator is moving as you move the cable, if it is, check also the vacuum line on the heater hose line switch, see if both hoses going in and from the heater core are hot, that vacuum switch in the heater core hose line may be stuck or no good, and in the heat position, also, the cable on the box may not be actuating the door keeping it in or out of the heat position. either way its an easy fix, spray all the doors with some wd40 they may just be stuck, and most important, check that you have vaacuum to operate the individual switches and doors within the heater box, good luck
