How to remove timing chain in 1972 corvette?

How do you get the damper off? Do you have to drop the oil pan?

Thanks for the reply.

On a 1972 350 do you know if the original timing gears were all steel. I had 1 69 427 that had aluminum gear with some kind of hard plactic on the teeth.

No you dont have to remove the oil pan. Bes way to remove damper is with a puller I used a steering whell puller to get mine off came off easy.
