replacing 84 corvette doors with 87 doors

I replace 84 corvette door with a pair of 87. The wiring plugged together I thought I was good to go. Granted I had to change to plug on the courtesy light and the hatch release.
I can open the hatch with the key in the door. Has anybody done this switch?
