sometimes hatch will not open

sometimes hatch opens and other times it don't, what could cause tnis to happen ?

This happened to me...in my case I realized that I had turned the car off but I left the car in gear by accident, so the hatch wouldn't open if it thinks the car is in motion. Otherwise check your connection to the switch it may be coming off or loose. I have one in the center console and another button on the inside edge of the drivers door. Good luck.
