Speedometer reads almost double speed

Just bought a 91 c 4 and the speedo meter reads 65 when I'm only going 35

Hi,
Mine did the same thing (1996) found someone had played with buttons and set gauges to metric readings. set them to US and all is good

Richard,

Congratulations on the C4! Your problem can be a multitude of issues and none of them are cheap. If the speed is consistently off by a set percentage you could just install C4 Corvette Speedometer Calibrator
as an inexpensive fix. Most likely the cluster itself has issues and its better to leave sleeping bears lie. You crack one of those babies open and you will surrender your wallet. If the car is new to you the previous owner may have made mods to the car like gears or transmission work. If thats the case the speedometer calibrator should fix all your problems.
