Temp

by Ken

What is the "normal" operating temp for an 1988 vette? I am running about 226 to 246 on the highway with the air on. At night, about 205 max. I know it will run a little hotter during the day but that just seems high. I just had to replace the radiator, thermostat and water pump so may by Im just paranoid. I have checked the radiator housing and the cap. Everything has been cleaned out. Any advice?

235-240 NEW

That is pretty hot, but as long as coolant isn't boiling out, it should be fine. Any higher than 240 I would start to worry.

Water temp
by: Tommy

I just got an 88 C-4 Corvette and took it out on the freeway and then got into stop and go traffic. Water temp was running 233-235 range and oil temp was at 240. Is this still safe to run an engine at those temps? This is my first Vette and I am used to the old car where anything over 210 was alarming.
