87 Corvette battery drain

The battery on my 87 Corvette will drain in about 5 days if I don't start it. I noticed while driving the car on the gauge where the temperature is set I press the button to find what outside temp is. Sometimes it works, other times it goes completely blank. I heard this could be the culprit. I was told to charge the battery and pull the L.C.D. fuse and check the battery after 5 days. There is also another fuse marked as Clstr which according to the Haynes repair manual protects the same cicuit. Should I pull this one too? Thanks

Battery drain issues
by: Anonymous

do a batt drain test by placing amp meter in line with batt. Then disconnect thing one at a time until u see a drop in draw. Mine was the alt diodes dropped batt drain to minimal level and starts for weeks now instead of days.

Battery DrAIN

The security system likes to drain the battery when it has not started in days/months.
I would simply disconnect the negative on the battery in periods where your not using the car for a while. I have not tried it but maybe pulling the fuse for the security system would work too but it may be coupled with other items on the same fuse. C4 seems to have multiple uses for many of its fuses.

fuse
by: Don Herstine

I believe that the clstr is the word for cluster and that is for all the lights in your dash light cluster and would not have ant thing to do with your other fuse. 5 days is quite a while. My 81
goer dead after 3 days so i put a trickle charger on it . They are about 40.00 dollars but it works good. try it .
