have a new motor and regulator for left door,so where do you start to install them

The regulator was broken and motor no good and someone before me tried to fix things and goofed them up even more. So I took it all out and bought new parts to repair the door. So being things were broke, I do not know where to start to put things back together. Any help will be appreciated.
