I have a 1969 Corvette convertible a/c car with heat coming from the botton vents.

I have pulled apart the dash and exposed the heating and A/C duct work. I'm trying to find why there is warm air coming from the lower vents into the driver and passenger areas. As far as I can see the lower vents is closed and the side passenger as well but the center one is open. Would anyone have any answers.
