1970 corvette is now higher after restoration

After a frame off restoration, my car is now about 5 inches higher between the top of the tire and the fenders edge. A frame measurement was also taken. The front looks higher but not as bad. The car has the original rear 9 leaf spring.....all orginal suspension parts.....I did replace the solid body mounts with rubber ones......I noticed that the rear cross member that the pumpkin bolts onto, the new cushions did not seat all the way down onto the frame, they needed to drop about a quarter of an inch to seat all the way down. Someone told me with time, they will stretch and seat properly. I did replace all rubber cushions with polyurathane cushions regarding the ends of the leaf spring to the trailing arm linkage. The current tires on the car are not correct. They are 25 and a half inches tall instead of 27. I can see this playing a factor but it seems that the car is still sitting around 5 inches to tall. I can take pictures if needed.

thank you for your help
Kyle
