77 corvette heater fan and windshield wipers don't work unless hood is open.

I can get them to come on if I open the hood, and a door. I tried to tie the wires together to bypass the little switch, (not the light under hood) its the same as door switch, I think their connected in sequence and the grounds are for resistance I think.

I can now operate the wipers and heater/ac/blower fan with hood closed but door must be open... I would really rather not open my door in the rain to operate the wipers. I did look at the door switch on drivers side and its got 3 terminals on it, where as the one under hood has 2. I am curious if replacing these switches will resolve the issue. Side note: When I press in the buttons with car running they spark. So, I don't know if one is backfeeding low volts direct to ground or if this is normal.
