Erratic temp gauge, engine reduced power alert

I have a 99 C5 corvette with 52000 miles. Recently the temp gauge became erratic and the info system tells me the “engine power reduced”. A friend told me the wiring harness in the right door is at fault. As you know there are 2 connectors there with multiple wires. I didn’t find anything loose but was wondering which wire (color) may be the culprit. I don’t want to keep jiggling wires if this continues. Any thoughts or instructions? I have replaced the coolant temp sending unit after this happened the first time but obviously that is not the issue.
