C3 Frame

Yes a 74 frame will work on your 72 regardless if its a convertible or coupe. Not sure how bad your frame is? Maybe this is an option https://www.zip-corvette.com/68-74-48-frame-rail-repair-kit.html

We are guessing your frame is rotted in the lower section where the straight part meets the axle over hump. Just make sure you look at your used replacement real close for rust. Please take a screwdriver and check for any soft or weak spots in the frame before purchasing or even starting this project. Good luck please come back and post pictures of your project when you are working on it.
