how do you close a corvette hood

How do you close a 1976 corvette hood? It goes down, but won't latch all the way on the driver's side. I don't want to ruin anything...

I have the same problem with my 1978 vette. The hood release handle must be push all the way back in.

I have a 80 vette. I find the hood will only catch on 1 side. so... The way I find best is to make sure the hood release cable is pushed "ALL THE WAY IN" than drop the hood about 1 foot above the closed position. if the cable is not pushed all the way in, the hood will not catch on the 1 side. Hope this helps. Fred

I would imagine the semicercular ring is not sliding into place the way it should. Try spraying the latch with some WD-40 and working the slide a few times by hand.
