Stereo Conversion Problems

The radio in my '74 does not work and I have a pioneer knob radio that i bought 10 years ago for another project and never used. The problem is that the center distance between knobs on the OEM is 6 1/4" and the pioneer is 5 3/4". Is there a way or place to find an adapter plate to make this work without cutting the bezel or should I just find a radio that will fit?
