Sudden RPM fluctuation
by: Terry

Has anyone had this problem and can identify the solution for me. My car is a
1988 C4 Doug Mash 4x3 with 100k. I was driving when with no warning, I stopped
at a red light and the idle started surging from 900 to 300 to 900 to 200 to 900
to 100 and it killed. It started right up and I made it back home where it's
parked right now. I replaced the 2 maf relays. with no reaction. I found the
canister solenoid inlet disconnected so I replaced the fuel vapor canister and
tested the solenoid which worked and hooked it all back up according to the
manufacturers egr schematic.

With the engine not running I unplugged both the MAF and the TPS and start the
engine, it surges but doesn't stall, while running like this I plugged them both
back in and now its running ok but the next morning the surge begins all over
again.

Any ideas guys?

Terry
