Hello, I have a 1958 Corvette that I have had for 25 years and just now retired and beginning to restore the car. The VIN is J58S104878. I know the J is for Chevrolet Corvette, the 58 is for 1958, the S is that it was produced in the St Louis Plant. My question is what information is available for the remaining 6 numbers or the production numbers that will help me down the road for both documentation and restoration help? Is there any one in particular that would help in the restoration process (not do the work but give consultation for a fee?) Thanks in advance for your help. Rob Martin

Unfortunately much of the information on the early Corvettes were lost in a fire. The last 6 numbers you speak of are most likely just a sequencing number. The best place for you to start your project is http://www.ncrs.org/ as they will be able to help you and and get you going in the right direction.
