Waterleak

by Sylvia Tiongson

Hi, I had been having problem with water leaks on my Corvette 1976 coupe stingray. I had the windshield replaced last year because it had a small crack from a stone. One time it rained heavy and found paddles of water on the front floor both sides. I had to get the carpet changed.

I bought a weather stripping and installed it but still water gets inside when it rains.

What could be the problem and how can I get it fixed? Thanks.

Leak fix
by: Anonymous

On my (new) 1973 water came in on the door post at the back of the door. Chevy's (under warranty)fix was to glue a strip on trim on the flat surface of the door post to direct the water to the outside of the vehicle.

Wish I had that car back. lol

windshield frame leak
by: Anonymous

The frame around the top and sides of the windshield are well known to leak badly. They rusted through probably years ago! Weatherstrip would have helped around the door windows and T tops but not around the top of the windshield. It will have to be accessed, bead blasted, and sealed. Depending how bad the frame is rusted through, the correct way to do that is most likely going to be to take the windshield back out, disassemble the top down to the frame, cut the windshield frame off and replace.
