what are the grouping of wires running through the center going to the back of a 81 vett.

I bought a 81 corvette and see that a bundle of wires have been cut that go back to the rear compartmet near the battery.The previous owner did install a aftermarket cd player. My problem is anytime I turn the car off for a couple hours the battery is dead. Is there a link to the wire's cut.? Also when I try to use the wipers I hear a buzz sound from the storage comp next to the battery. Could there be a relay that prevents the wipers from working. Please help. Thanks stan
