1993 Corvette engine temp high

by Dustin

Car starts running hot temperature runs about 220-230 if you don't turn the heater on... It has gotten up to 242 but did not go any higher. I have no idea what the problem is.

None of that works for me
by: Tim

I own a 1990 coupe and since day one ive had overheating issues and nothing ive done seems to rectify the problem.
In fact the otherday I took the therm. completely out and guess what... no damn difference, it still gets up to 230. Now mind you this is in conjunction with wiring both of my fans direct. So my fans run from the second I turn my key and still cant cool this thing down so kudos to the bright engineers who came up with this jewel

engine runniing hot
by: Ricardo /Midland Tx.

I have a 1995 c4. I replaced the thermostat from 180 to 160,also added a manual switch to cooling fan relays just in case temp. get too high on slow traffic. make sure to clean out and wash debris between radiator and condenser. You can get parts from Corvette Central.

High engine temps
by: Scott

This is annoyingly normal. I have a'92 and live in WNC mountains. My temps run 193 warmed up on interstate. On mild and warmer days 65 degrees and up, if in traffic or stopped temp can spike to 233 before fan activates. I turn on a/c when temp rises to turn on the second condenser fan which will drop coolant temp 10-15 degrees, works better than turning on heater! All the forums say engineers intend this engine to run this hot, but it concerns me. Corvette central has temp sensors that will start the fan at a lower temp, but someone told me that can cause the engine computer to throw a code if it is not expecting the fan to run early. Good luck.
