1996 Corvette runs rough when starting hot

I have a 1996 Corvette with the LT-4 engine, 89,000 miles, very well cared for and garaged, runs great, never any problems EXCEPT on very hot and humid days. If I shut the car off with a hot engine and try to start it again in 5 minutes, no problem. But if I shut it off when the engine is hot and it is very hot and humid outside the engine starts very rough or not at all when outside temps over 100. Feels and sounds like only 5 or 6 pistons firing, then over the next minute or two the engine smooths out and runs fine. If I let the engine cool longer she starts up no problem, never stalls, runs like a bat out of you know where.

Solving my own problem
by: David

I went out into the garage a couple of nights ago when it was very humid again, opened the hood, and fired up the vette. I stood in the darkness a couple of minutes to make sure my eyes adjusted and was almost ready to give up when I saw it -- a VERY faint flash of light. A few seconds later I saw another one slightly to the left. I went and grabbed a flash light and every time I saw a flicker of light I turned on the flash light -- the little flickers always came very close to where one of the cables near the engine block. Seems my spark plug cables were shot, had them replaced by my mechanic (worth the money to me) and so far so good. I'll post again if it acts up but I think that was the problem.
