1998 corvette fuel guage problem

When driving down the road the guage willdrop to empty and the panel will read low fuel when the tank is full. when the car is turned off then restarted the guage will function correctly.

We recommend Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner Chevron 67740 Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner - 12 oz.

This would be your first level of action.
Second would be to always use top tier gasoline see site http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html
Stay away from ethanol blends if possible. The alcohol is very corrosive.

And your final and really ultimate solution would be to replace the fuel level sensor in the LH tank. ACDelco SK1318 Fuel Level Sensor Assembly

Just remember to follow previous steps to stop the same thing happening to the new sensor.

C5 fuel guage on empty but tank is full NEW
by: Anonymous

I added techron and drove till tank was 1/2 empty. Filled tank with chevron premium and added seafoam. Guage is still on empty. I found a back country gravel road that was fairly rough. I went about 4 miles until i hit black top. Traveled 100 mi back to houston. 2hours later i got back in car and cleared all the codes. Started the car and fuel guage has been working perfectly!

1998 corvette fuel gauge problem
by: Anonymous

Hello

I really need some help. I am still having the fuel gauge issue with my 1998 corvette. I recently changed at the Chevy dealership the right and left side fuel pump. I picked up the car and drove it home with no issues. Two day later I took a day off of work and to really test out the car. The tank reached 3/4 and the fuel meter dropped to empty and the message popped up in the display "low level". I brought two bottles of techron and just waiting to see if this product works. I really like the car as it is very fun to drive but my expenses are getting high for a car I only drive on the weekends. I just need some guidance and troubleshooting help. Prior to changing out the fuel pump the car stalled on 3 times.

Thanks.

1998 Corvette fuel sensor or ebtcm problem
by: Don

I can drive around 40 miles and the guage goes to empty and low fuel indicated and check guages light indicated. Park the car and turn off engine. 5 minutes later crank the car and drive around 40 miles and the same routine starts again and the gas guage has dropped some indicating the guage is working. Any help would be appreciated.

by: Anonymous

Put a whole bottle of chevron techtron in you tank.It sounds like the sulfer in the gas you bye is messing with the two sending units in your gas tanks. Good luck
