2000 coupe 6 speed manual transmission pops out in reverse gear

Why does my transmission pop out of reverse? I have to hold the shifter hard up to go in reverse and even then sometimes it pops out of gear.

I have a 1997 coupe 6 speed that is very difficult to get into reverse...happened upon this solution one day, not sure why it works but it does every time... shift into 1st then shift over to reverse...slides right in...doesn't pop out or feel "stiff" when I do it this way...hope it helps!

We would suggest double checking the shifter linkages then unfortunately after that you will probably have to visit a transmission shop.
