2003 C5 Z06 Trunk release not working

by Bill Jerome
(Sierra Vista, AZ)

I have tested the relay (Switched to another) and it is functioning, When I use either of two FOB's or the dash button the trunk does not open, I hear the sound but still will not open? I released it manually (Cable) and cleaned the mechanism and added silicone lub but it will not open, Is there a solenoid on the device itself that may be faulty? How can I test this? Where do I get a replacement that will work with the FOB's if I need one?
