Convertible top on my 99 vette will not release from deck lid because wire operating button release is unplugged

When trying to put down my convertible top on my 99 vette, I pushed the yellow release button which detaches the top from the deck lid and it did not release. I do get an intermittent buzzer, Upon inspection, I noticed a black wire behind the driver seat had become unplugged. I located the plug for the wire, but the wire plug cannot be inserted without detaching the top. So, how do I detach the top and raise the front deck lid so that I can get to the plug and attach the wire to it?
