digital instrument ground problem

Digital display works off & on. (works fine or goes blank). sometimes bumps or banging dash restart it (or cause while working). also, with panels/covers off, if i reach under & wiggle harness will make it work/stop. This was a NEW replacement with only few thousand miles on it. Because works fine, I strongly believe the prob is a bad GROUND connection to chassis, but cannot find where it connects. HANK YOU for any/all insight.
