Engine coolant overheating and charge system fault at same time

Hi

Looking for some help please! I have a'98 C5 that I bought a few weeks ago. She's been working fine but today I was in the highway going about 90 mph when my charge system fault light and coolant over temp lights came on at almost the same time.

Reduced engine power notice displayed and my steering control reduced significantly. I could steer but with great effort.

The coolant tank was quite hot so after it cooled I refilled with proper coolant. It doesn't seem to be leaking.

Any thoughts?
