Gauges all stop at once

I have a 2001 corvette end now the gauges all stop, they do come back on but there is no pattern to the problem. I had a service tech check all but 2 of the grounds and they were all clean, he then "recleaned" them put dialectic grease on them. Still same problem. I've heard horror stories about any local dealer when it comes to electric issues, never finding the problem and still charge $125/hour for ?? Any info would be of great help.
