LS1 or LS6

by Ken

I just purchased a 2004 covette lemans edition. Is there an easy way to know if the engine is a LS1 or LS6 ZO6? The air intake has LS1 stamped on it.

Z06 or LS1
by: Corvette-web-central

All Z06 Corvettes have a LS6 engine. All other corvettes have the LS1. Now if you have the Z06 fixed roof Corvette you for sure will have the LS6. The intake on the base corvette for that year is the only part that is concidered the same as the LS6. You would require different cylinder heads to truly be concidered an LS6. An easy way to tell LS6 heads is by their "D" shaped exhaust port. Information on the heads can be found on our site if you need pictures.
