noies in the torqe converter

when i turn off the car my car makes a clank noise about 3 to 4 times. i checked my torqe converter and it has lots of play almost quarter turn

Pretty sure if we are talking about the right thing that the torque converter should turn freely. What you are probably noticing is the engine stopping rotation. You might want to take it to a transmission shop to verify before you go to much farther.
