What is killing my battery when its not being driven.

Answer

Rich,

It hard to say exactly what's causing your issue since you don't provide a lot of detail. Factors such as age of the car battery and how often its driven can drastically determine potential issues. Any add on items such as phone chargers or direct battery draw items that have been added such as any lights or relays could contribute.

Most likely its normal if your not driving your car or using a battery tender. Its very common for C5-C7 corvette generations to have high parasitic electrical loads with the vehicle parked.

GM is aware of the issue and instead of fixing the issue they offer a battery protection option for new corvette owners as part of the ordering process.

Official Corvette Battery Protection Package

The battery protection package is nothing more than a battery maintainer for your Corvette with a Corvette logo on it.

The manufacture of the Corvette Battery Protection charger is C-Tek. They can be purchased for a little less. Battery Charger Generic Version But you still would need to purchase a 12v accessory plug to make it as convenient as the GM version.

If cost is a factor and you only need a maintainer and not a charger we recommend this Battery Charger Low Cost Version

Hope that helps?

Remember to save the wave!

Safe cruising,

Chris
